The Bertha Project
Promoting, understanding, preserving Jewish heritage and combating hate through education and community engagement.
OUR MISSION
BP2’s mission is rooted in the belief that education and dialogue are powerful tools for combating prejudice and fostering inclusivity. We recognize attitudes are slow to form and even slower to change. However, we envision a world where individuals and communities are empowered to confront bias, celebrate diversity, and build bridges of understanding across cultural, social, and religious divides.

INSPIRATION
The Bertha Project 2.0 (BP2) was founded in February 2024 by David Bliss, from Wilmette, Illinois, in honor of his aunt, Bertha Wolf, a Holocaust victim. Bertha Wolf’s life and legacy are a powerful reminder of the importance of tolerance, understanding, and preserving Jewish history. BP2 was inspired by the 2023 dedication of a memorial plaque or Stolpersteine for Bertha in Husen, Germany. BP2 was forged from a deeply personal commitment to ensure that her story and the lessons of the Holocaust are never forgotten. Concurrently, the Bertha Project 2.0 is dedicated to fostering intercultural dialogue to combat the ignorance and hate that continue to stoke the flames of prejudice and antisemitism.
